Farmshare CSA Week 8 8/11
Week of August 11th, Week 8 of CSA
Each and every week we do our absolute best to get to you the veggies we include in this newsletter so you can plan your week accordingly. Despite all our best plans and intentions, share contents are subject to last minute changes due to weather, field conditions and random acts of mischief by our beloved Mother Nature. This means some weeks that half and full share compositions might not be identical and we will make up where applicable.

Our Favorite Recipes!
Boiled Corn On the Cob
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. While you wait for that to heat up, shuck your corn and remove as much of the corn silk as possible. Since our corn is picked fresh daily, it will only need to be boiled for about 3-4 minutes. Brush with melted butter, salt, and pepper and you’re ready to eat!
Oma Wagner’s Bacon & Corn
A summery sauté of corn and bacon that makes a delicious (and easy) side dish. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 bacon slice for every 2 ears of corn
*Oma would plan on two ears per person
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Cook corn in boiling water for 2-3 minutes; remove from heat, drain, and let cool. Add bacon to a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and cook until crispy, then set aside on a paper towel; drain skillet, reserving 2 Tablespoons of bacon grease in pan. Slice corn kernels from the cobs and add to pan; sauté until crisp-tender, then crumble bacon into pan and add remaining grease and salt & pepper to taste. Stir until warm through.
Part of the fun of being a member of a CSA is collaborating with your community, so always feel free to post cooking suggestions or feedback on recipes that we post, or favorite recipes of your own that you’d like to share!
See you on the farm or on the road!
Cheers,
