What’s in this week’s share?
Farmer Pete wanted to let you know that because of the hot weather we’ve been having, some of our lettuce has bolted out in the field. Bolting happens when the lettuce plant sends up a stalk and goes to seed turning the leaves bitter, smaller and tougher. This is typically common during the early August heat and it only lasts a few weeks. We will distribute lettuce the best we can to members based on how much we can harvest at that time.
Veggies:
Corn – Butter & Sugar or Silver Queen
Cucumbers – Picklers and Slicers
Zucchini
Beans – Green, Yellow Wax, or Purple
Kale
Swiss Chard
Greenhouse Tomatoes
Cherry Tomatoes
Fruit:
Blueberries & Peaches
Each and every week we do our absolute best to get to you the veggies we include in this newsletter so you can plan your week accordingly. Despite all our best plans and intentions, share contents are subject to last minute changes due to weather, field conditions and random acts of mischief by our beloved Mother Nature. This means some weeks that half and full share compositions might not be identical and we will make up where applicable.
See you on the farm or on the road!
Cheers,
The FarmShare Team
